
The US national team secured a comeback victory against the Danish squad in a group stage match of the 2026 Olympic ice hockey tournament held in Italy.
The Group C contest concluded with the Americans taking the win by a score of 6-3 (periods: 1-2, 3-1, 2-0). For the United States, goals were scored by Matt Boldy (4th minute), Brady Tkachuk (30th), Jack Eichel (31st), Noah Hanifin (38th), Jake Guentzel (48th), and Jack Hughes (55th). Denmark’s scorers were Nick Olesen (2nd minute), Nicolas Jensen (12th), and Phillip Brugisser (40th).
During the third period, the Danish goaltender, Mads Søgaard, sustained an injury and was replaced by Frederik Dichow.
With 6 points accumulated, the US team currently leads their quartet’s standings with one match still left in the group stage. The Danish side has now lost both of its games and occupies the bottom position. Latvians hold the second spot (3 points), while the Germans are third (also 3 points).
In their next fixtures, the US squad is set to face Germany on February 15th. On the same day, the Danes will compete against the Latvians.
