Researchers sought to determine the drivers behind male infidelity. Their findings suggest that men are more amenable to extramarital affairs when they exhibit a higher degree of sociosexuality.
An international research team investigated the motivations leading men to be unfaithful. To do this, they administered a survey to 246 participants in Romania, whose average age was 24. The majority of those surveyed were in romantic partnerships, with nearly a third being married.
The subjects were asked to complete a questionnaire designed to gauge their satisfaction with their current relationships, their proclivity for casual sex, and their intentions regarding infidelity.
The outcomes of this investigation were featured in the journal Sexual and Relationship Therapy (SRT). According to the scientists, the primary determinant influencing a man’s predisposition toward cheating is linked to his level of sociosexuality.
The less content men feel within their relationships, the greater the likelihood of them engaging in casual sexual encounters. It is this specific element that initiates the sequence of events ultimately leading to infidelity.
When the survey was conducted among women, this particular correlation was not evident. For them, this connection appeared to be considerably more intricate or filtered through alternative variables.
