A major sewer main failure in the US state of Maryland resulted in a massive discharge of untreated sewage directly into the Potomac River, which flows through Washington, D.C. Footage circulating online clearly shows a murky torrent gushing from the ruptured pipe into the waterway, leaving foamy trails across the river’s surface. REN TV originally shared these dramatic images via their Telegram channel.
This event took place approximately one month ago. During this period, an estimated 243 million gallons of raw sewage have inundated the Potomac. State officials have since issued a warning that repairing the affected segment, which spans roughly 87 kilometers, could take as long as ten months to complete.
President Donald Trump characterized the incident as a significant environmental disaster and placed direct blame upon the Governor of Maryland. The head of state asserted that he would not permit the vital waterway at the heart of the American capital to devolve into an ecological crisis zone due to the negligence of local regional administrators.
