The Swedish Prosecution Authority is set to charge a man suspected of trafficking his wife for sexual exploitation. According to the investigation’s findings, he allegedly offered the woman to no fewer than 120 men. This information comes via a report from the Associated Press.
The suspect is roughly 60 years old. He has been detained since October, following a report filed by his wife to the police. At this juncture, there is no confirmed information regarding whether the victim was under the influence of narcotics when the alleged offenses took place.
Charges have already been filed against two other men implicated in purchasing sexual services from the woman and committing rape against her. Swedish law criminalizes the acquisition of sexual services, even if no physical contact occurs.
Should they be found guilty, these individuals and others involved face a potential prison sentence of up to one year. The victim’s husband is being charged with aggravated pimping. The trial will commence once the formal indictments have been served. The maximum penalty under that specific statute ranges from two to ten years in prison.
