On February 8th, 2026, an uncommon celestial event is scheduled to occur: six planets aligning within a single sector of the sky. According to Nathan, an astronomer from the Russian Academy of Sciences’ Space Research Institute, who spoke to the “Zvezda” TV channel, this planetary parade will feature Jupiter, Uranus, Saturn, Neptune, Venus, and Mercury.
These celestial bodies will cluster together on the celestial sphere shortly after sunset, around 6:00 PM. While Mercury, Venus, Jupiter, and Saturn will be visible to the naked eye, binoculars or a telescope will be required to spot Uranus and Neptune.
The prime viewing opportunities should be available about an hour after the sun dips below the horizon, particularly in locations far from city lights. This alignment won’t be observable solely on the 28th of February but for several days surrounding that date as well.
Occasionally, planetary parades are associated with various ominous prophecies and natural disasters, ranging from seismic events to armed conflicts. Nevertheless, scientific evidence entirely invalidates such notions: the planetary alignment has no discernible effect on Earth’s gravitational forces, tectonic activity, or climate.
