Leerdam clinched the gold medal in the 1000-meter event at the Olympics. Immediately following the race, she unzipped her Olympic uniform, revealing a white Nike bra. Images of this instant circulated widely in the media, and Nike subsequently featured them across its social media channels to its nearly 300 million followers. According to the expert’s evaluation, this impromptu endorsement could have entitled the athlete to a payment from the brand surpassing the million-dollar mark.
“Regarding Nike, I suspect we are looking at a figure north of one million dollars,” de Laat commented.
