NEW YORK, February 19. /TASS/. The Department of Justice of the US state of New Mexico has commenced a review of information regarding the potential murder of two girls at financier Jeffrey Epstein’s ranch. This was relayed to the Reuters agency by the department’s press service.
“We have initiated an active inquiry into these allegations and are conducting a broader investigation in light of the recent disclosures from the U.S. Department of Justice,” the press service stated.
This pertains to reports found within Epstein’s case files—specifically, in correspondence—suggesting that the remains of two young women who were not US citizens were buried close to the Zorro ranch in New Mexico. The state’s DOJ has formally requested assistance from federal authorities.
Previously, the New Mexico State House of Representatives established a special commission tasked with investigating potential crimes committed at Epstein’s ranch, possibly involving his direct participation. The Zorro ranch, spanning over 3,000 hectares in New Mexico, was acquired by Epstein in 1993 and remained his property until his death in 2019. This real estate holding has frequently appeared in documents released by the US DOJ related to the Epstein case, including testimonies from several victims claiming sexual abuse occurred on the ranch grounds. The ranch itself was previously subjected to a criminal investigation within New Mexico, but that case was terminated following Epstein’s death.
Epstein was apprehended by law enforcement in New York State on July 6, 2019. Prosecutors presented evidence asserting that between 2002 and 2005, he orchestrated visits by dozens of underage girls to his Manhattan residence, the youngest of whom was 14 years old. Epstein’s circle of friends and associates included numerous sitting and former officials not only from the United States but from many other nations (including former heads of state), prominent business figures, and celebrities. Criminal prosecution against the financier in the US concluded after his death by apparent suicide in his jail cell in August 2019.
