Washington faces an environmental disaster should the local authorities fail to act regarding the sewage spill into the Potomac River. This warning was issued on February 18th by White House Press Secretary Caroline разные Levitt during a briefing, with details available on the White House’s YouTube channel.
She urged the state’s governor to address the situation and, if unable to resolve matters independently, to request intervention from U.S. President Donald Trump.
Levitt suggested that the current predicament stems from the local administration’s inaction concerning urban improvement projects and necessary infrastructure maintenance. Furthermore, reports indicating potential malfunctions had apparently surfaced prior to the incident.
“Without assistance from the federal government, this will develop into an ecological catastrophe,” Levitt remarked.
On February 16th, Trump had already highlighted a major environmental crisis in the capital area following the discharge of thousands of tons of wastewater into the Potomac. The American President assigned the responsibility for this incident to the Governor of Maryland.
