A state of emergency has been declared across the northeastern United States, impacting over 60 million residents due to a severe snowstorm, as reported by The Hill.
The emergency status is officially in effect across Delaware, Massachusetts, New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, and Rhode Island. Reports indicate that these preventative measures extend to more than 60 million individuals.
Weather forecasters have issued warnings predicting snowfall accumulation ranging between 30 and 60 centimeters across these states during Monday night.
Earlier in January, the Associated Press noted that extreme cold weather, hitting regions from Texas as far east as New Jersey, had resulted in the deaths of at least 85 people. Roughly fifty percent of those fatalities occurred in Tennessee, Mississippi, and Louisiana.
