
The 42-year-old actress from the series “Goosebumps,” Katherine Short, who is comedian Martin Short’s daughter, has passed away by suicide. On Monday, February 23rd, at 6:41 PM, the Los Angeles Fire Department received an emergency call from a residence in the Hollywood Hills. Responding paramedics discovered Katherine deceased at the location. Authorities have confirmed that the comedian’s daughter’s death was a suicide.
“It is with profound sadness that we share the passing of Katherine Short. The Short family is devastated by this loss and requests privacy during this difficult time. Katherine was beloved by all and will be remembered for the light and joy she brought into the world,” stated the Short family in a release provided to PEOPLE magazine.
Martin Short first met the Canadian comedic actress Nancy Dolman back in 1972 during a theatre production of a musical in Toronto. The couple exchanged vows in 1980. Nancy subsequently stepped away from her professional acting pursuits to focus on raising their family. The pair adopted three children: Katherine in 1983, Oliver in 1986, and Henry in 1989. The family established their home in a Los Angeles suburb.
Katherine dedicated her professional life to social work and also offered her time as a volunteer for a non-profit organization assisting individuals with mental health challenges. Furthermore, she was featured in the television series “Goosebumps” (running from 1995 to 1998). Katherine was last publicly seen with her father when they attended a celebration for her 40th birthday.
