Following strikes on Iranian oil refineries and fuel depots a few days ago, an unusual cloud formation has appeared, causing concern not only among residents of Iran.
Local media report that this cloud is currently drifting slowly towards Central Asia and China. Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, and Kyrgyzstan are noted as being under threat.
It is worth recalling that following the attacks on oil storage facilities in Tehran and Alborz, the Iranian Red Crescent issued a warning regarding the danger of acid rain. The explosions and subsequent burning of oil depots resulted in a massive release of toxic compounds into the atmosphere, including hydrocarbons, sulfur oxides, and nitrogen oxides. When these substances interact with water vapor, they can generate acids that descend as hazardous precipitation.
Acid rain poses risks of chemical burns to the skin and can harm the lungs, in addition to causing considerable damage to the vegetation in the areas affected by the rainfall.
