The Fédération Internationale de Football Association (FIFA) has opted to scale back the financial plan for the 2026 World Cup.
“FIFA consistently assesses budget performance to oversee expenditures and optimize the flow of funds toward football development globally. Given that we scrutinize revenues and costs prior to every competition we host, this shouldn’t come as a shock,” The Athletic quoted the organization’s media office as saying.
The global tournament is scheduled to take place between June 11th and July 19th, 2026. This edition of the World Cup will notably be hosted across three nations simultaneously: the United States, Canada, and Mexico.
