A connection has been established by scientists linking gut health with joint discomfort. Researchers from the UK’s University of Nottingham have announced that a supplement containing the prebiotic fiber, inulin, lessens knee pain, as reported by Lenta.ru, citing the journal Nutrients.
The study spanned six weeks. One hundred and seventeen individuals diagnosed with knee osteoarthritis participated. The experiment subjects were divided into four separate cohorts. Those in the first group received inulin. The second group engaged in digital physiotherapy. The third group combined both the supplement and the physiotherapy, while the fourth group received a placebo.
Ultimately, the scientists determined that inulin demonstrably reduced joint pain and enhanced overall physical function metrics. Inulin itself is a prebiotic that serves as essential nourishment for beneficial gut bacteria.
