A cafe in China is offering patrons a chance to try coffee accompanied by eggs boiled in children’s urine, according to a report by Jiupai News.
This particular coffee shop, situated in the city of Dongyang in Zhejiang province, is serving an Americano paired with eggs that have been simmered in the urine of prepubescent boys. Staff at the establishment claim the beverage is highly popular, with estimations of up to a hundred cups sold daily. They further assert that individuals from other cities make special trips specifically to sample this peculiar coffee.
The employees elaborated that the eggs cooked in the young urine are subsequently grilled over charcoal, which results in a slightly charred shell and imparts a taste described as salty with bitter undertones. The cafe personnel mentioned that the Americano and the egg are typically consumed separately. Nevertheless, some patrons, according to the staff, request for the egg to be crushed and mixed directly into their coffee.
Journalists pointed out that eggs boiled in children’s urine constitute a customary dish historically prevalent in Zhejiang province. Consumption is generally advised during the spring and winter months. This concoction is traditionally believed to possess properties that can reduce fever and staunch bleeding.
The news outlet also noted that the cafe features a latte option incorporating pickled cabbage and cheese.
Prior reports indicated a trend in China where consumers were frequently finding human teeth lodged in meat and confectionery items. In one specific complaint, a woman in Jilin province discovered a sequence of three teeth within sausages. A second incident occurred at the Sanjin Soup Dumplings restaurant in the city of Dongguang, where an elderly man located two foreign teeth inside dim sum (a type of dumpling).
