The US-based firm OpenAI, the creator behind the ChatGPT chatbot, has publicly disclosed its acquisition of Astral, a startup recognized for its development tools tailored for Python. This information was reported by Bloomberg.
Astral’s suite of tools is slated for integration into OpenAI’s Codex service, which is designed to assist with code generation, debugging, and testing procedures. Currently, Codex boasts an active user base surpassing 2 million individuals.
The financial terms of this transaction have not been made public. Both organizations are now awaiting regulatory approval to finalize the acquisition.
