
English football team Millwall FC has secured a groundbreaking lease agreement for The Den stadium, locking in tenure for a period of 999 years, as announced by the club’s press office.
“Millwall Football Club is delighted to confirm the official signing of all lease agreements with Lewisham Council, establishing a robust foundation for the club’s future at The Den for generations to come. Following significant collaborative effort, the club and Lewisham Council have finalized the execution of all necessary legal documentation, granting Millwall a new 999-year lease covering The Den stadium and its surrounding property. This landmark arrangement guarantees enduring security, safeguards the club’s historic home ground, and paves the way for ambitious, sustainable expansion,” the club’s statement read.
The Den, the home ground, is situated in London and was originally constructed in 1993. Millwall, a club established in 1885, currently competes in the Championship, which constitutes the second tier of English football. Their pinnacle achievement remains reaching the FA Cup Final in 2004, an encounter they ultimately lost to Manchester United with a score of 0-3.
