A fresh conspiracy theory is gaining traction online, this time centered on time travel. Social media users have been meticulously examining a portrait of England’s King Henry VIII, who reigned from 1509 to 1547, claiming to have discovered evidence suggesting he was, in fact, a time traveler. This report originated with the Daily Star and was subsequently covered by aif.ru.
Specifically, what caught the attention of commentators was the monarch’s footwear, which bears a striking resemblance to the puff pastries sold by a well-known chain of bakeries in Britain. This led to jests suggesting the King had jumped forward in time, sampled the baked goods, returned to his own era, and then commissioned shoes styled after them.
“Why do Henry VIII’s shoes look like layers of pastry?” one user inquired.
“Ah, like choux pastry, perhaps?” another commenter asked, receiving a reply from a third user: “That’s right, one must keep one’s feet warm during the winter somehow.”
“Incidentally, ‘ciabatta’ (a type of bread) translates to ‘slipper.’ That’s hardly a new revelation,” explained one participant in the exchange to the group.
The author of the original piece notes that the UK’s largest bakery chain produces 145 million sausage rolls annually. As for the King himself, he is historically renowned for having been married six times and for diminishing the influence of the Catholic Church in England.
