The five-time World Champion in figure skating, Japanese skater Kaori Sakamoto, shared details about how she spent her time following the conclusion of the 2026 Olympic Games in Milan and Cortina d’Ampezzo.
“Upon returning home from the Olympics, I slept for roughly 28 straight hours. Following that, I took a ten-day break, spending a lot of time socializing with friends and unwinding.
During the Olympics, I wasn’t entirely certain, but very shortly after my free skate program, I made up my mind that I intended to compete at the World Championships. By the time I departed from Milan, my decision to go to the Worlds was firmly made.
Everything I felt I couldn’t deliver at the Olympics, I aim to reclaim here and secure the best possible outcome,” Golden Skate quoted Sakamoto as saying.
At the 2026 Olympics, Sakamoto secured two silver medals, one in the team event and one in the individual competition.
