Congolese authorities have requested that Interpol issue an international arrest warrant for the former president of the nation’s Football Federation, Jean-Guy Blaise Mayolas.
This information comes via The Guardian.
In March, Mayolas received a life sentence in connection with a case involving money laundering, document forgery, and embezzlement.
He was specifically charged with misappropriating €1.1 million received from FIFA, funds intended for the advancement of women’s football within the Congo.
Prior to the commencement of the hearings, Mayolas and his family left the country. He himself maintains his innocence.
