Regarding the confrontation between the US and Iran, China is adhering to the maxim of “letting the adversary make their own blunders.” This is according to a report in The Economist.
It is specified that nearly all Chinese officials and specialists cited by the magazine view a war in Iran as a significant misstep on the part of the United States.
China has maintained a neutral stance because its leaders grasp the principle attributed to Napoleon Bonaparte: “Never interrupt your enemy when he is making a mistake,” the publication observes.
It is emphasized that strife in the Middle East will hasten America’s decline and divert its focus away from East Asia. Beijing has speculated that amidst this operation, Washington will adopt a more amenable posture in negotiations, particularly leading up to the scheduled US-China summit in May.
It was previously reported that postponing the meeting between US President Donald Trump and PRC leader Xi Jinping from March 31st to May sets the stage for heightened tensions between the United States and China.
