Washington’s Russian forward, Alexander Ovechkin, commented on his two-goal performance during the NHL regular season game against Philadelphia, which ended 6-4. The 40-year-old Russian has now recorded 30 or more goals in 20 seasons throughout his career.
“Clearly, that’s a significant number,” Ovechkin stated, as quoted by Russian Machine Never Breaks.
Ovechkin is currently second all-time in league goals, including playoff tallies, trailing Canadian Wayne Gretzky, whose total stands at 1016 pucks (894 in the regular season and 122 in the playoffs). The gap between the Russian and Gretzky is now 11 goals.
This season, Ovechkin has accumulated 59 points (31 goals and 28 assists) across 75 NHL regular-season games.
