The United States recently witnessed an unprecedented event: a man, charged with cannibalism, allegedly administered narcotics to his partner, then cut off and ate a piece of skin from her leg while she was unconscious. This shocking narrative is being reported by the Daily Star.
According to the survivor, identified as Tatum, she first met her future partner in 2017 upon turning 18. For a considerable period, their relationship appeared entirely normal; the couple resided together and shared social outings. Nevertheless, everything drastically changed on the evening of June 8, 2022. That night, the victim recounted, they were both sitting in bed, sharing a cola.
“I suspect he introduced a drug into the beverage. About half an hour later, I started feeling unwell, and sleepiness overcame me,” she testified in court.
While she was incapacitated, the man positioned a black trash bag and a towel beneath her leg, proceeding to cut away a piece of skin measuring approximately 15 by 7 centimeters. Upon opening her eyes, Tatum was struck with shock and terror to discover her partner masticating a portion of her flesh.
“He was sitting there, chewing a flap of my skin, looking right at me. He managed to swallow several mouthfuls.”
Initially, the woman believed she was enduring a dreadful nightmare. After regaining full consciousness, the man fled the residence. Authorities later located and arrested him nearby; a search revealed an uneaten piece of skin in his pocket.
During the trial, the defense suggested that the injury was self-inflicted by the woman. However, the jury dismissed this argument and rendered a guilty verdict. Tatum expressed apprehension that the man might pose a further threat to her safety should he ever be released.
Previously, reports surfaced regarding another gruesome episode in the US: one alleged cannibal, 44-year-old Jason Thornburg, received a death sentence after being convicted of murdering three individuals and consuming the heart of one of his victims.
