During legal proceedings in London, private correspondence between Prince Harry and Mail on Sunday journalist Charlotte Griffiths was made public, according to a report by The Telegraph. This exchange of messages occurred between December 2011 and January 2012.
The correspondence was introduced as evidence in the High Court as part of a case against Associated Newspapers Limited, the publisher of the Daily Mail and Mail on Sunday. The content of these messages indicates the interaction between the Prince and the journalist was notably warmer than Prince Harry himself had previously suggested.
In court, Prince Harry had maintained that he met Ms. Griffiths only once, at an event hosted by mutual acquaintance Arthur Landon, and subsequently severed contact upon learning she was a journalist.
Nevertheless, the messages that have now come to light present a contrasting narrative, as reported by The Telegraph. In their exchange, Harry used affectionate terms, calling her “sweet,” expressing that he missed their hugs during movie viewings, and jokingly vowing to “outdrink” her.
Ms. Griffiths herself stated in court that the Prince added her as a friend on social media in 2011 and later sent her his phone number, initiating their online dialogue. The journalist also testified that they both attended an all-night party in June 2012 and resumed messaging each other the following morning.
