Gianni Di Vita, the former mayor of the Pietracatella municipality, along with his wife and 15-year-old daughter, suffered poisoning during a private family dinner, according to a report by Need To Know.
Information suggests that on December 23, 2025, the family shared a meal, and on the following day, they hosted guests for Christmas festivities. Subsequently, all three family members began feeling unwell. The politician’s wife and daughter tragically passed away within a few days, while Di Vita himself was hospitalized but ultimately survived. It has been specifically noted that none of the guests who attended the family gathering exhibited any signs of poisoning.
Authorities subsequently collected all food items from Di Vita’s residence for forensic examination. These tests confirmed the presence of ricin, an extremely lethal toxin, within the consumed food. Law enforcement officials concluded that an attempt was made to poison the politician’s family; however, as of yet, no suspects have been successfully identified. The investigation into the incident remains active.
