The streaming platform Tubi has achieved a notable milestone, becoming the inaugural video streaming service fully incorporated into the ChatGPT application ecosystem. This integration empowers users to discover titles from Tubi’s extensive catalog—which boasts over 300,000 movies and TV shows—directly through OpenAI’s chatbot interface.
As reported by 9to5Mac, enabling Tubi is done through the ChatGPT App Store. Once connected, content discovery is initiated by using the command format: @Tubi. The functionality relies on natural conversation with the bot; for instance, one could ask for film suggestions based on a specific theme or convey a feeling, such as requesting “a movie that feels like a fever dream but isn’t horror.”
Subsequently, ChatGPT will generate a curated selection of suitable films available on Tubi. Selecting any suggested item will immediately launch playback on the Tubi streaming website. The responses provided by ChatGPT also incorporate broader suggestions and prompts to refine the search further. Tubi representatives emphasize that users do not need to know precise titles; descriptions of mood or genre suffice for effective searching.
It is noteworthy that this application rollout occurred almost immediately following OpenAI’s announcement regarding Sora, signifying a strategic pivot towards integrating with external content libraries.
