Florida authorities are currently investigating a gruesome homicide subsequent to the discovery of human remains packed inside two suitcases. According to the New York Post, the incident commenced on March 28th when law enforcement in Palm Bay received a tip regarding a suspicious item. Upon reaching the location, officers immediately observed vultures circling overhead. The birds directed them to the first suitcase, and a second one containing identical contents was located nearby.
Investigators soon identified 19-year-old Lucas Sander Jones as a person of interest, as a package addressed to him was discovered inside one of the suitcases. When police visited his residence, they noted apparent injuries on the young man, and he was uncooperative when questioned.
A subsequent search of the dwelling uncovered traces of blood, along with a knife resembling one found within the luggage. Jones’s girlfriend stated that she had previously seen the missing 28-year-old Coley Lee Daniel, who had been reported missing on March 22nd, at his home and recalled him appearing unconscious. Afterward, Jones informed her that his acquaintance had departed. The following day, he requested his partner drive him to the vicinity where the suitcases were later discovered, and she witnessed him tossing items from the vehicle.
Jones was initially taken into custody for the desecration of a body and subsequently released on bond, but he was soon rearrested and formally charged with murder. While the victim’s identity remains officially undisclosed pending the ongoing inquiry, local media outlets assert that the remains belong to Coley Lee Daniel.
