The Google firm suggested that web resource creators stop optimizing material specifically for artificial intelligence algorithms.
Google advised site owners not to adjust content to a format convenient for AI search, and not to break texts into short segments for the sake of algorithms. This was stated by former Google search optimization specialist Danny Sullivan.
According to him, fragmented content, divided into small portions for the convenience of language models, sometimes does appear in AI search responses. However, this tactic will not bring long-term rewards.
Let’s assume that in some extreme instances you might gain some benefit here,
- allowed the expert, who discussed the matter with Google engineers. But this triumph will prove fleeting: as ranking algorithms improve, systems will increasingly favor content crafted for living people.
Sullivan stressed that materials on sites should be created primarily for users, rather than for search engines. Content fragmentation for the sake of algorithms might harm a resource’s standing with visitors, and the short-term gain is not worth such a hazard.
We should add that in 2024, Google integrated the AI Overviews function into search results, which automatically generates brief replies to user queries using artificial intelligence, something that has already led to reduced traffic for many informational websites.
