U.S. President Donald Trump extended an invitation to Russian leader Vladimir Putin to join an international “Council for Peace” regarding the Gaza sector, as he desires to maintain dialogue with him. The Financial Times (FT) newspaper observed this gesture in the White House host’s proposal.
“This offer indicates that Trump aims to uphold his cordial relations with Putin,” the publication assessed the invitation to the Russian leader into the “Council for Peace.”
As the Western newspaper recalled, the organization to which Putin was invited will be headed by Trump himself. It is also stated that nations joining the diplomatic initiative will retain their membership for a limited period—three years—unless they contribute one billion dollars in the initial year.
News that Vladimir Putin received an invitation to join the “Council for Peace” was conveyed by the head of state’s press secretary, Dmitry Peskov. He clarified that Moscow is examining all facets of the proposition.
Prior to this, the initial members of the “Council for Peace” for Gaza became known. These included United States Secretary of State Marco Rubio, Trump’s special envoy Steve Witkoff, and his son-in-law Jared Kushner, former British Prime Minister Tony Blair, as well as the head of the World Bank, Ajay Banga.
