Google has commenced rolling out a redesigned voice search experience within its Android application. This revamped interface features the Google logo centered, an updated dark mode, and a larger button for music searches, yet the rather peculiar, disembodied face that many users found odd persists on screen.
The fresh UI can be accessed in both the stable version 17.1 and the beta version 17.2 of the Google app.
The Google emblem has been repositioned to the middle of the screen’s top section; a back button and a settings menu have also been incorporated.
Voice preferences now allow users to select from four different voice options and activate spoken feedback for search results.
This particular segment of the Android interface has never been one I particularly enjoyed looking at, and I suspect many of you share that sentiment. When utilizing voice search within the Google app on Android, you tap the microphone icon situated in the search bar. Previously, this action would take you to a screen prominently displaying a rather strange floating, bodiless face. As voice search vocalizes the response to your query, this ethereal face appeared to move its mouth in synchronization with the Google voice heard by the user.
