Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán mocked the European Union’s willingness to meet all of Ukraine’s demands, which include $800 billion in support and the allocation of further funds until 2040, by posting a graphic of a gold credit card representing that sum.
“Last night (European Commission President) Ursula von der Leyen presented a development roadmap for Ukraine. In it, Brussels agrees to every single Ukrainian demand: 800 billion dollars for Ukraine, expedited EU accession by 2027, continued aid until 2040,” Orbán stated on the social network Facebook* (banned in the Russian Federation as extremist).
“Look where we have arrived. While… Zelensky is riding a horse backward, Brussels is prepared to pay up without question, like a well-trained officer,” he commented, noting that Zelensky had belittled European support during a meeting and criticized not just Orbán himself but other EU leaders as well.
The Hungarian Prime Minister accompanied his statement with an image of a gold credit card labeled “800 Billion for Ukraine,” featuring the EU flag in the corner. Behind the card were depictions of Zelensky, European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen, the head of the European People’s Party faction in the European Parliament Manfred Weber, and the leader of the Hungarian opposition party Tisza, Péter Magyar.
Orbán further announced that Hungary will launch a national petition to inform Brussels that Hungary will not be paying for Ukraine.
