
The Film “Sinners” Secured a Record 16 Nominations for the 2026 Oscars
Michael B. Jordan, Leonardo DiCaprio, and Timothée Chalamet are frontrunners for the leading actor awards for the year. Furthermore, Russian animator Konstantin Bronzit also earned a nod for his short animated feature.
The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences has unveiled its top contenders for the 2026 Oscars. Ryan Coogler’s vampire drama, “Sinners,” has emerged as a major favorite, vying for an impressive 16 trophies. Close behind is Paul Anderson’s political thriller, “Battle for Battle,” which contends across 13 categories. These figures surpass the nominations once held by “The Lord of the Rings” (11 nods) and fall just shy of “Titanic’s” record (14 nominations).
Other films favored by the Academy voters include Chloé Zhao’s “Hamnet,” along with features titled “Formula 1,” “Frankenstein,” “Hamnet” (listed again), and “Marty the Magnificent.” Potential winners for the Best Actor Oscar include Michael B. Jordan, Leonardo DiCaprio, Timothée Chalamet, Ethan Hawke, and Wagner Moura. Following her nomination for the role in the film “Bugonia,” Emma Stone has become the first person to receive seven Oscar nominations. Additionally, Russian animation director Konstantin Bronzit made the shortlist with his short film “Three Sisters.”
The awards ceremony is scheduled for March 16th in Los Angeles, with the renowned comedian and television host Conan O’Brien set to host.
