Meta has announced that, beginning in October 2025, it will temporarily suspend the availability of AI characters for teenage users across its applications globally. This pause is scheduled to remain in effect until a revised iteration, incorporating enhanced control mechanisms, is fully deployed.
The intention of Meta is to place a temporary hold on minors’ ability to engage with the AI character feature within their apps worldwide until a refreshed edition is finalized. This information was conveyed in an official company statement.
“Very soon, younger users will lose access to our AI characters across all our applications until we have perfected the subsequent generation of this feature. This restriction will apply universally to any individual identified as a teenager based on their self-reported age or if our age verification technologies flag them as minors,” the corporation stated.
During October 2025, Meta detailed the ongoing creation of novel supervisory instruments and an updated AI character suite. These developments aim to equip parents with greater authority to oversee their children’s AI engagements, enabling them to specify precisely which AI personalities their offspring can interact with.
“While this upgraded version is under construction, we are pausing access for teens to the current suite of AI characters everywhere,” the company emphasized in its published release.
