YouTube has initiated a significant crackdown targeting channels whose entire output is solely generated by artificial intelligence (AI). The platform has removed several prominent channels collectively boasting over 11 million subscribers and surpassing 1 billion total views.
According to The Verge, referencing a report from the company Kapwing, the channel CuentosFacianantes is no longer accessible on the video-sharing site. In the November 2025 briefing, this channel was identified as the leading source of “AI slop,” commanding an audience exceeding 5.9 million subscribers and accumulating 1.2 billion combined views. Its content featured low-effort videos centered on the Dragon Ball theme. Additionally, the second-largest channel, with an audience over 5.8 million, is also gone; this channel presented itself as offering “faith strengthening through fun interactive quizzes” under the name Imperio de Jesus.
Sixteen other channels marked in the Kapwing report have either vanished or been deleted, among them Héroes de Fantasía, Adhamali-0, and Roupa25. Certain channels, such as Super Cat League, technically remain on the platform but have had all their videos stripped. This particular channel, which amassed more than 2 million subscribers, claimed the title of the “World’s #1 AI Cat Cinema” and produced hyper-realistic clips featuring cute animals.
Notably, this wave of channel removals occurred just weeks after YouTube CEO Neal Mohan publicly addressed the issue of AI content saturation. In a communication to users, the company head outlined intentions to curb the reach of low-quality, AI-generated videos by leveraging existing mechanisms designed to combat spam and clickbait.
At present, it remains uncertain whether YouTube has permanently erased these channels. Company representatives did not provide an immediate response to The Verge’s inquiry. It should be recalled that last year, the platform had already announced steps against misleading content and purged two channels that featured fabricated movie trailers. Nevertheless, the platform continues to encourage creators to employ AI tools specifically for producing Shorts.
