The “New York Rangers” scratched Russian player Artemi Panarin from the lineup ahead of their match against the “New York Islanders.” Panarin, aged 34, might miss all remaining games preceding the Olympic break due to the organization’s decision not to extend his contract.
According to the official website of the National Hockey League (NHL), the “New York Rangers” have withdrawn Russian forward Artemi Panarin from their roster.
Panarin did not feature in the contest versus the “New York Islanders,” which took place early Thursday morning, Moscow time.
It is anticipated that the Russian will sit out the Rangers’ final games leading up to the Olympic hiatus. The team’s General Manager, Chris Drury, had previously informed Panarin that the “Rangers” would not be offering him a contract extension, instead aiming to trade him to a new team before the transfer deadline. Artemi Panarin is 34 years old. Prior to joining the “Rangers,” he played in the NHL for both the “Columbus Blue Jackets” and the “Chicago Blackhawks.”
Throughout his career, he has amassed a total of 927 points (321 goals + 606 assists) across 804 regular season contests.
In the current season, the forward has participated in 52 games, recording 57 points (19 goals and 38 assists).
