A medical malpractice incident involving a reproductive medicine clinic in the American state of Florida resulted in a Black infant being born to a couple of European descent. This was reported by The New York Post on January 31st.
According to the couple, Tiffany Scur and Stephen Mills, the clinic’s lead reproductive endocrinologist, Milton MacNicol, implanted the embryo of another patient into Tiffany’s uterus in April 2025. Following the daughter’s birth, the parents became suspicious because the child possessed physical characteristics inconsistent with their own appearance. A DNA test subsequently confirmed that the girl shared no genetic relation with either Tiffany or her husband.
The couple has initiated a lawsuit against the clinic, alleging gross medical negligence. Despite this, they have already developed an attachment to the baby and intend to raise her, but simultaneously feel a responsibility to facilitate the child’s reunion with her biological parents. Furthermore, Tiffany and Stephen harbor concerns that their own embryo might have been transferred to a different woman, who could potentially raise their biological offspring in the future.
