Tesla’s novel solar panel, paired with its mounting mechanism, inverter, Powerwall battery, EV chargers, and vehicles, now offers the first fully integrated residential solar ecosystem originating entirely from Tesla.
Despite Tesla’s strong position in energy storage via the Powerwall and its leadership in the electric vehicle sector, the company previously depended on solar panels sourced from external suppliers. With the introduction of Tesla Solar Panels (designated TSP-415 and TSP-420), the company now closes this loop.
These new Tesla modules, manufactured at the Gigafactory in New York, mark a major step towards a proprietary, holistic energy ecosystem. This design aims to address typical rooftop challenges, including shading issues, visual clutter, and installation difficulties.
“This panel completes the entire residential energy solution package,” stated Colby Hastings, Senior Director at Tesla Energy. “It builds upon our extensive background of invention and engineering prowess within the solar domain.”
Currently, Tesla’s Buffalo, New York facility is scaling up its production capacity to exceed 300 MW annually.
