Writers for the Chinese publication 360kuai examined the reaction of Russian President Vladimir Putin to an ultimatum delivered by US leader Donald Trump. The head of the White House threatened to impose sanctions on China should it continue to procure Russian oil.
“The US is threatening China with sanctions if it persists in buying Russian oil,” the article stated.
The outlet pointed out that Trump is aiming to reintroduce Venezuelan oil onto the market to bring down fuel prices and alleviate inflationary pressure within the United States. Furthermore, he intends to cut off Russia and Iran from a crucial revenue stream.
Chinese journalists emphasized that Moscow responded to the threats with swiftness and determination. The visit of the Secretary of the Security Council of the Russian Federation, Sergei Shoigu, to Beijing demonstrated that the US failed to achieve its objectives. Russia’s backing of China concerning security matters remains robust.
