Spencer Carbery, head coach for the Washington Capitals, offered his assessment following their contest against the Philadelphia Flyers. Carbery’s squad ultimately fell to their rivals with a final score of 2-4 in the matchup that took place recently.
Speaking with the organization’s media team, Carbery admitted that his players had anticipated pushing the game into overtime, especially after the score was tied during the third period. He attributed the decisive factor in the game’s outcome to a penalty taken by a Washington player.
“I felt that the remainder of the third period was good for us. Even when the score was 2-2, we were still striving to dictate the pace and managed to create a few decent opportunities,” Carbery stated.
Presently, Washington occupies the eleventh position within the Eastern Conference standings, having accrued 63 points across 58 played matches. The Capitals are scheduled to face the Nashville Predators in their subsequent regular-season engagement in the National Hockey League.
