The formal opening ceremony for the 2026 Winter Games has concluded in Italy, the climax of which saw the traditional lighting of the Olympic flame.
It is noteworthy that, for the very first time in the history of the Games, the flame was ignited simultaneously in two separate cities: Milan, at the San Siro stadium, and also in Cortina d’Ampezzo.
As a reminder, thirteen Russian athletes, having secured their Olympic qualifications, have been officially granted permission to take part in the 2026 Olympics under a neutral designation. The competitions are scheduled to wrap up on February 22nd.
