Dutch speed skater Jutta Leerdam secured an Olympic gold medal in the 1000-meter race.
Her finishing time was 1:12.31, setting a new Olympic record.
The silver medal went to another athlete from the Netherlands, Femke Kok (behind by 0.28 seconds). Japan’s Miho Takagi claimed the bronze (trailing by 1.64 seconds).
It’s worth remembering that Leerdam is the girlfriend of the controversial blogger and boxer Jake Paul. She traveled to Milan via private jet, separate from the national team entourage.
