Three women in North Carolina face murder charges in connection with the death of a six-year-old girl who was reportedly kept confined in a dog crate for years. According to a report by People, the child weighed a mere 12.2 kilograms when she was discovered.
Law enforcement responded to a call at the residence and located the youngster unconscious. Despite rescue efforts, medical personnel were unable to save her, and she passed away at the hospital. The investigation has revealed that the girl endured systematic abuse and severe starvation. Her body exhibited evidence of past fractures, burn marks, lacerations, and sores attributed to soiled diapers.
Other children residing in the same dwelling informed investigators that the victim was routinely locked inside the crate. Furthermore, she was deprived of sustenance. Over the preceding years, social services and the police had visited the location multiple times. They had received dozens of concerning reports from neighbors.
All the accused—61-year-old Susan Robinson, 51-year-old Tonya McKnight, and 22-year-old Terrin McKnight—are currently in custody. They have been denied bail, and the inquiry into the case remains ongoing.
