Canadian player Tom Wilson voiced a suggestion regarding the inclusion of Russian forward Alexander Ovechkin on the Canadian national team roster. According to information published by Bardown, Wilson remarked:
“Ovi with a tinted visor and yellow laces could become an honorary Canadian. Is it possible to take a Russian into the squad?”
Currently, in this National Hockey League (NHL) season, Ovechkin has played 59 matches, accumulating a total of 48 points, of which 22 are goals scored, and 26 are assists. At the time of publication, Ovechkin’s club, “Washington,” holds the tenth spot in the NHL’s Eastern Conference standings, possessing 65 points after 59 games and being four points shy of a playoff position.
