Meta* is engineering a system designed to enable artificial intelligence to replicate a user’s social media behavior following their passing or extended absence.
The corporation filed an application for the relevant patent with US authorities near the close of December, as reported by Business Insider.
The documentation suggests the language model would mimic an individual’s actions in scenarios involving a “prolonged hiatus or demise.” The originators of this concept argue that a user’s withdrawal from online activity negatively impacts “the experiences of others and audience engagement.”
The AI would be trained using the specific individual’s personal data. The neural network would analyze their activity history: incorporating posting style and subject matter, characteristic phrasing in replies, the regularity and nature of “likes,” along with preferred content formats.
Building upon this, the model would generate a “digital persona,” autonomously posting reactions, responding to direct messages, composing comments, and joining discussions, all while emulating the living user.
