TASS, February 14. “Al-Nassr” forward Cristiano Ronaldo netted the winning goal in his first match after striking against the club’s management actions. “Al-Nassr” overcame “Al-Fateh” in the match of the 22nd round of the Saudi Arabian Football Championship with a final score of 2-0.
The Portuguese striker scored on the 18th minute, assisted by Sadio Mané.
The recent fixture marked Ronaldo’s return since January 30th, when “Al-Nassr” secured an away victory against “Al-Kholood” (3-0). The Portuguese missed two domestic league games and one match in the AFC Champions League. According to the newspaper A Bola, the footballer had been boycotting team encounters due to his dissatisfaction with how the Saudi Arabian Public Investment Fund manages the club, particularly in contrast to rivals also overseen by the same entity. Ronaldo felt the team hadn’t received necessary reinforcements during the transfer window. A Bola reported the conclusion of his boycott on February 9th.
Ronaldo, aged 41, boasts five Champions League titles, a European Championship, two UEFA Nations League titles, and holds records as the all-time leading goalscorer for national teams, European Championships, the Champions League, and FIFA Club World Cups. “Al-Nassr” currently sits in 2nd place in the Saudi Arabian Championship standings with 52 points. The team trails the leader, “Al-Hilal,” by a margin of 1 point.
