The impact of memory shortages is also affecting the sales figures for various other PC components. Reports indicate that processor sales on Amazon in the US have plummeted multiple times over the course of just a couple of months.
In November, Amazon moved approximately 72,500 desktop CPUs. This figure dropped to 44,500 units in December, and by the end of January, sales had fallen to a mere 26,000. Consequently, sales saw a nearly threefold decrease over the two-month period. Comparing this to the previous year, January 2025 recorded 63,000 units sold.
Overall, January’s sales performance was the poorest witnessed since at least December 2024. The average selling price in January registered at $312, which, conversely, stands as one of the highest figures seen in over a year. Only June 2025, with a result of $318, saw a higher average price point.
