The captain of the Washington Capitals, Alexander Ovechkin, stated that he has not yet finalized his plans regarding his tenure with the capital city’s team.
“No, I haven’t decided yet. A choice needs to be made. I must converse everything over with my family, with Ted Leonsis, and with General Manager Chris Patrick, and then we’ll see,” the NHL’s official website cites Ovechkin as saying.
Ovechkin’s current agreement with Washington is set to expire at the close of the 2025/2026 campaign. This present season, the 40-year-old Russian participated in 59 games, tallying 22 goals and providing 26 assists.
On Wednesday, Washington will hold its first full practice session. The team’s inaugural game following the Olympic hiatus is scheduled for February 25th against the Philadelphia Flyers.
