At that juncture, much like a perfectly navigating self-driving vehicle, distinguishing between leading programming models will become challenging due to their near-zero error rates.
It is entirely plausible that programming as a career path might soon cease to exist. Elon Musk projects that by the close of 2026, direct involvement in coding will become obsolete, with artificial intelligence handling all related tasks.
For context, the Colossus 2 supercomputer, developed specifically to train the Grok model, officially commenced operations in January of this year, establishing itself as the planet’s first AI cluster to reach a 1-gigawatt power consumption level.
Elon Musk has confirmed intentions to boost the system’s capacity to 1.5 GW as early as April. As a point of comparison, 1 GW exceeds the peak energy demands of the entire city of San Francisco.
