The Swedish biathletes Fredrik Lindström, Carl Johan Bergman, Mattias Nilsson, and Björn Ferry were awarded the bronze medals from the 2010 Olympics.
“The feeling is great. Sixteen years is an incredibly long time, but the truth must prevail. Cheaters must face consequences. Therefore, this represents a victory for anti-doping efforts,” Björn Ferry commented to SVT.
For the Russian team in the men’s relay, the competitors were Sergey Ustyugov, Anton Shipulin, Alexey Volkov, and Dmitry Malyshko. At that time, the Russian biathletes secured the bronze, while the Swedish team finished in fourth place.
Furthermore, Ustyugov was stripped of his gold medal from the 2010 Vancouver Games in the mass start event. The honor was subsequently transferred to the Frenchman Martin Fourcade.
