Nissan and Uber are nearing the final stages of discussions concerning a collaboration focused on robotaxis. Should a deal be finalized, autonomous Nissan vehicles equipped with Wayve’s self-driving technology would become integrated into the Uber network.
The Robotaxi initiative, a joint venture between Nissan and Wayve, is presently in its development phase. The intention is for the initial production vehicles capable of fully autonomous operation to debut in urban environments starting from the 2027 fiscal year. These vehicles are expected to link up with the Uber platform, both within Japan and internationally.
Wayve’s technology is engineered to enable vehicles to navigate intricate city settings without human intervention. This capability unlocks significant potential for the widespread deployment of autonomous ride services and enhances the operational efficiency of robotaxis.
