A convenient and always-present entry point to your AI Mode interaction history is now being rolled out extensively within the Google mobile application on Android, situated directly on the main Discover feed tab. Replacing the previous Labs icon, a new button now appears, which reveals a panel showcasing your recent AI conversations, thus enabling rapid resumption of ongoing dialogues. This adjustment streamlines AI Mode access, aligning it more closely with the core search functionality and mirroring the design of the equivalent menu found within the Gemini application.
Modifications have also been implemented on the AI Mode landing screen: the history icon has been relocated to the upper-left corner, while the “back” button has been substituted with a downward-pointing arrow to improve navigation clarity.
The Search Labs feature, which grants access to experimental options, has been moved into the account menu, positioned as the topmost item directly following the general settings.
These updates premiered on iOS back in December of last year, where the history can be accessed via a swipe gesture. On Android, this rollout is currently targeting beta testers of the Google app version 17.9, with a broader release anticipated for all users shortly thereafter.
This strategy clearly signals Google’s commitment to making the integration of artificial intelligence into search operations and daily usage as organic and fluid as possible. Comparable implementations are already operational within Gemini. As competitors work to solidify their footing in AI-driven search, Google is subtly refining its user interface to ensure smoother navigation through the vast capabilities offered by AI.
